Snoop Dogg is set is to star in God of the Rodeo. An upcoming film from director Rosalind Ross. The film will be based on the famous reporting of Daniel Bergner who was inside the deadliest prison in the American South, Louisiana’s Angola Prison in 1967. Shia LeBeouf will also be starring alongside Snoop.

Buckkey, a hardened inmate with a life sentence finds redemption in an unlikely opportunity. He’s put in charge of the prisons first “inmate rodeo.” As the inmates prepare for the event they start to realize that this is just an excuse for a gladiator type of show. A fight for survival designed to play to the public’s bloodlust and fulfill the warden’s delusions.

“Linking up with Scott Free Productions and working with Ridley Scott and Giannina Scott on God of the Rodeo is life changing and an honor.

Rosalind Ross brought a story with heart and grit, and that’s what I’m about. Me and the team at Death Row Pictures stepping in as producers, I’m acting in it, and Death Row Records is building the soundtrack—and this one got soul… We’re bringing an important story and something special to the screen.

    Snoop

Snoop will be producing and starring in the film alongside his Death Row Pictures partner, Sara Ramaker. Rosalind Ross is will write the script and direct the film. This project will have a strong creative vision from beginning to end. Based on true events, the horrors of the inside of the prison will take front stage on the big screen.

Giannina Scott will also be producing through Cara Films. Not only is she on board but legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott will produce under his Scott Free Productions.

Currently God of the Rodeo is in production with no set release date.
