The sudden and tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins has had a huge impact on many people around the world. One of the most prolific and talented drummers of his time, Hawkins had been playing drums in Foo Fighters since 1997, marking a 25 year long career with the group. Like the band itself, he was embraced and loved by family, friends, and fans and spent his life creating incredible music. His passing at 50 comes as a shock to almost everyone, as there was no indication of illness or impending tragedy. Being such an integral part of the industry, musicians reacted strongly to his untimely passing.

Musicians and celebrities took to social media to share their tributes and comments on the unexpected passing of their friend. Legends like Stevie Nicks, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne, Mick Jagger, Axel Rose, along with fellow drummers like Travis Barker and Ringo Star all shared their thoughts and condolences shortly after his passing. The list of celebrities and musicians that loved Taylor and his work is incredibly long, a testament to how influential he was as both a musician and a friend. Here is a small collection of the many responses and reactions from the community. It is clear that Hawkins left a huge impression on everyone he met and worked with, and the kind words and mourning are a testament to the legacy he leaves behind.

We are terribly sorry to learn of the loss of our friend and musical brother Taylor Hawkins. So sorry to his family, Dave and the Foo family, and to the legions of his fans. Like everyone who knew him, we loved him. Rock Music wont be the same without him. pic.twitter.com/MXE5yGmy2O

Our love, thoughts and support are with all who knew Taylor. Thank you for looking after me, thank you for being so kind and loving, thank you for being the most awesome drummer ever, thank you for bringing so much joy to the world, thank you for being you! With love, Nandi x pic.twitter.com/JAxo6N844a

There are many, many more kind words and condolences from just about everyone imaginable. Taylor Hawkins’ work with the Foo Fighters will live on, and it is very clear that anyone who ever got the chance to work with him or meet him was left with nothing kind words for him after his passing. Nandi Bushell‘s reaction is particularly devastating, as the talented young drummer idolized the Foo Fighters and was able to perform with them after her YouTube videos and outright challenges garnered responses from the band. It’s just another example of how loving and caring Taylor and his bandmates were to those around them and their fans, and the world of music will never be the same without him.

It is a terrible loss, and Nerdbot extends our condolences to the friends and family of Talyor Hawkins as they wrestle with the tragic passing of such a talented and wonderful individual.

One of my favorite songs of all time is “Everlong,” and I don’t care how lame or commercial that is. It resonates with me in ways I can’t really explain, so I will be honoring Hawkins by listening to as many different versions of the song as possible.

Here’s some “Everlong” for you, too. Rest in Peace, Talyor Hawkins.
