Sure, maybe buying someone a movie as a holiday gift isn’t…the most thoughtful. But maybe it just depends on who you’re getting it for? In my house, physical media and classic films are absolutely a big part of our family, so, we’d all appreciate it. There are some pretty great deals on new releases, specialty box sets, and some surprise titles!

Here are just some of the Blu-ray / 4K releases you should add to your collection, or someone else’s.

“Dune” (2021) is available to pre-order on Amazon now!

(We assume this is NOT the final cover, because what the hell is Fox TV?)

“Howard the Duck” on 4K! Pick it up on Amazon here.

“Ghostbusters” on 4k, pick it up on Amazon here.

“Gladiator” 4K! Get it on Amazon here to prepare for Ridley Scott‘s upcoming sequel.

For the “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” fan, how about the 6 film Middle Earth 4K collection? It’s actually on sale from Amazon here.

“Harry Potter” 8-film 4K anniversary collection in this lovely Hogwarts Express case. Pick up on Amazon here.

Okay and now for the discerning collector- John Carpenter 4K collection, featuring “They Live,” “Escape from New York,” “Prince of Darkness,” and “The Fog.” Get it on Amazon here.

(But also make sure you have the 4K of “Halloween,” too.)

“The Karate Kid” collection on 4K! Get it on Amazon here.

One of our absolute favorite pieces of cinema, “Jaws!” The 45th anniversary 4K is absolutely worth picking up on Amazon here.

If adventure has a name, it’s Indiana Jones! Get the 4K anniversary box set at Amazon here.

There’s also this Stanley Kubrick 3-film 4K set. Pick it up on Amazon here.

And if you’re going super classic, this Alfred Hitchcock 4-film 4K set including “The Birds,” “Rear Window,” “Psycho,” and “Vertigo” is a great one. Get it on Amazon here.

With Spider-Man on our minds, why not add “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” on 4K? Pick it up on Amazon here.

“The Matrix” trilogy 4k set is available Amazon here!

Another classic series to add to your collection, “The X-Files” complete series on Blu-Ray! Pick it up on Amazon here.

We’ll probably add additional titles as we become aware of more sales. Happy holidays!

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
