Upcoming animated series “Star Trek: Prodigy” keeps setting our expectations high. First, it was the early animation teases. Then, it was the reveal that none other than Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) formerly of the Starship Voyager, would be appearing. Now, after a panel during New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2021, we find out that Chakotay (Robert Beltran) will ALSO be a part of “Star Trek: Prodigy!”

New cast memebers announced during the panel include Daveed Diggs as Commander Tysess, Jameela Jamil as Ensign Asencia, Jason Alexander as Doctor Noum, and Robert Beltran as Captain Chakotay.

There was also a new clip shared, which highlights hologram Janeway meeting her new ‘crew.’ It’s so good to hear that voice again, not gonna lie. You can watch the official title sequence for the series here.

We meet Murf (Dee Bradley Baker), Brikar Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui), Jankom Pog (Jason Mantazoukas), Zero a Medusan (Angus Imrie), Dal (Brett Gray), and Vau N’Akart Gwyn (Ella Purnell). The Diviner and Drednok, notable villains for the series, will be voiced by John Noble and Jimmi Simpson.

“Star Trek: Prodigy” is set to premiere on October 28th 2021, only on Paramount+.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
