It’s Finally Ogre: Universal’s Shrek 4D to Permanently Close

Universal Studios Orlando is finally taking the plunge and cutting the strings on one of its most well loved and absolutely well-memed attractions. Shrek 4D, the continuing adventures of everyone’s favorite swamp dwelling Scotch ogre, will be closing for good in the new year.

While its no surprise for a ride based on an older franchise to close down to make room for newer properties, many online are saddened by the news of the end of Shrek 4D. Shrek’s Ye Olde Souvenir Shoppe, the attached gift shop to the attraction, will also close up in January, so if you’ve a hankering for some authentic Shrek merch, get it while you still can!

Good news for that obsessive Shrek fan out there though (yeah, we see you), the Shrek and Donkey meet and greet experience is scheduled to continue on after the demise of the Shrek 4D attraction, meaning you’ll still be able to catch up with Shrek and Donkey for a photo in years to come.

It’s not yet known what will take the space of Shrek 4D in the park, but the maintenance to remove the old attraction is expected to take place through to late summer 2022.
