George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” Prequel “Furiosa” Gets Delayed

We are sorry to say that one of our most anticipated films has been delayed. True, this is a project we weren’t expecting to see for some time, but any delay sucks. George Miller‘s upcoming “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel film “Furiosa” won’t be releasing anytime soon.

According to a new report, the Anya Taylor-Joy starring project will now bow sometime in 2024.

Cameras were supposed to start rolling last month. Production is crawling along.

While we don’t know much about “Furiosa” yet, we DO know that Chris Hemsworth and Yaha Abdul-Mateen II are also on board. There have been persistent rumors that the story and plot may borrow heavily from 2015’s Mad Max video game from Avalanche Studios, filling in the backstory of this particular slice of Miller’s post apocalyptic wasteland.

Jenny Beaven, who won an Oscar for her incredible costume work on “Fury Road” (and most recently did “Cruella” for Disney) has confirmed she’ll be designing for “Furiosa.”

Tom Holkenborg, aka JunkieXL, will also be returning to the “Mad Max” family to score “Furiosa.”

You can watch “Mad Max: Fury Road” on HBO Max, and keep an eye on Lloyd’s Fury Road car auction happening now.

We will of course let you know what we hear about this and other news.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
