Amazon’s “Anansi Boys” to Star Delroy Lindo as Mr. Nancy

Yes, we also are more than a little disappointed that Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Sir Lenny Henry‘s “Anansi Boys” WON’T have “American Gods” star Orlando Jones returning to the role of Mr. Nancy. That said, Delroy Lindo will be amazing as Anasai / Mr. Nancy.

Jones, a damn fine gentleman, had this to say on Twitter:

Congratulations to the INCREDIBLE LEGENDARY @authenticdelroy U will make a wonderful Mr. Nancy! Now, I hope they don't follow the book too closely. Either way, sending much love your way sir! pic.twitter.com/A44elZ6GIN

“Anansi Boys” has a six-episode order from Amazon Prime Studios, and will start production later this year in Scotland.

    Delroy Lindo, “The Chicago Code”

“Delroy Lindo is a giant of the stage and the screen, and we are so lucky to have him,” Gaiman said in a statement about the news. “I cannot wait to see his gravitas and charm being deployed for the benefit of Anansi Boys, as he plays an unreliable father with hidden depths.”

Co-showrunners Gaiman and Douglas Mackinnon will helm the series, while Hanelle M. Culpepper (“Picard“) will direct the pilot of “Anansi Boys.” Other directors for the 6 episodes include Jermain Julien and Azhur Saleem.

Executive producers for the series include Gaiman, Sir Lenny Henry, Mackinnon, Culpepper, Hilary Bevan Jones, and Richard Fee. Gaiman and Henry will be penning the series, along with Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith, and Racheal Ofori. Paul Frift will produce.

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
