There’s a game for Chess nerds out there now that only has one kilobyte of JavaScript to beat. If you loved “The Queen’s Gambit” and have been itching to play here’s your chance to beat a digital version of Beth.
The Kilobyte’s Gambit was created by by Matt Round of the entertainment site VoleWTF. The game was adapted from code by Oscar Toledo G. and graphics by Pinot with their permission.
You play as white and go first. To move your piece you click on it and then click where to move. The game supports castling, en passant and pawn promotion (to queen only).
The game won’t announce victory or defeat but it will prevent further moves to let you know you’re finished. The entire game fits into 1024 bytes of information.
Now I’m not great at Chess anymore, it’s a muscle that hasn’t been flexed in a while. I tried to play this game a few times and got my butt handed to me. So if you want a fun way to pass the time and have fun getting beat check this out. Plus its fun because the digital Beth looks at you with those innocent doe eyes all while wreaking havoc on your game.
