“Thor: Love and Thunder” Won’t be Chris Hemsworth’s Last Time in the MCU

So we just took a minute and counted up all the various Marvel Studios MCU releases….and its a lot. It was SUPPOSED to be a higher number, with “Black Widow” releasing this year as the 24th film, but….you now….*waves hands*.

ANYHOW, we want to talk about Chris Hemsworth, and what he just told Elle Man about his future as Thor Odinson in the MCU. Namely, that Thor 4, “Thor: Love and Thunder,” will NOT be his last outing in the role.

Hemsworth made sure he was VERY clear about his desire to continue as the God of Thunder, even with all those rumors about him following the departures of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans from the MCU.

“Are you crazy?! I’m not going into any retirement period [laughs]. Thor is way too young for that. I’m only 1500 years old! It is definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”

Obviously, we’re pretty happy to hear that, as we feel Hemsworth’s inhabiting the part really found tremendous new ground after “Thor: Ragnarok.” Part of that lays squarely at the feet of writer/director/person we want to wear pink pineapple rompers with- Taika Waititi.

When Marvel Studios confirmed that Waititi would be returning to helm “Love and Thunder,” we knew it was something we could not only look forward to, but be assured would be wonderful.

    Hemsworth also, feels similar.

“After reading the script, I can say that I am very excited. For sure there will be a lot of love and a lot of lightning in this production [laughs]. I’m glad that after all that happened in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ I’m still part of the Marvel Universe and we can continue the story of Thor. Of course, I can’t tell you anything about the plot, but to satisfy your curiosity, I’ll say that I had a lot more fun reading the script than on ‘Thor Ragnarok’, and that proves something, because this movie was brilliant.”

One of the only things we DO know about “Love and Thunder” is that Natalie Portman‘s character Jane Foster is returning!

Check out this AMAZING piece of art from BossLogic, reimagining Portman’s Foster following in the footsteps of her comic book namesake and taking on the mantle of Thor.

Directed by Waititi from a script co-written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and himself, the film stars Portman, Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Christian Bale. All reports seem to point towards this movie following Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor” Marvel Comics series in which a cancer-stricken Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor.

In any case, we really can’t wait for “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
