When we talk about cosplay, it used to feel like there were only some cosplayers but with social media impacting the younger generations we definitely see many more cosplayers all over the world. I am happy to introduce our spotlight, Tavoigancio from Chile.

    Sailor Moon. Prince Sapphire

Please introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Gustavo Ramirez and I’m from Santiago de Chile [and] I started in the cosplay world 4 years ago. Due to the acceptance of my work I’ve been touring with my different characters in conventions and in events of the inhabitant. [Currently], I’m 23 years old.

Do you have any accomplishments or cosplay projects that you are particularly proud of?

Some of my achievements as a cosplayer have been [winning] first place in different cosplay competitions. Some of my photographs have become confused with the original performer like my interpretation of Gellert Grindelwald’s (Johnny Deep) from “Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald“. I was hired by the same production company that brought the film to Chile to host the opening night. Also my work has been conceived to work with conventions and with film content production companies.

Have you learned more about yourself since you started cosplaying?  If you have, what have you learned?

Of course!  I discovered that I can be a versatile artist as I can take challenges from fiction, literature, anime, and film characters and immerse myself in them and their personality.

What are your most and least comfortable cosplays?

The most comfortable cosplay I’ve made is Flynn Rider because this one doesn’t take me as much time in makeup or characterization. Also, this character has a more friendly personality, like Kristoff from Frozen. Everything that is “Disney” for me is more bearable.

The most complicated cosplay that I have done was Gellert Grindelwald. For this one I colored my hair and the process to arrive at Grindelwald’s color was quite painful. That and the hours of makeup that I applied to take to a resemblance.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Thanks to the Cosplay world I can meet more people who love the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Franchise that I love and enjoy. I currently stream via Instagram where I speak and unveil different curiosities of the Harry Potter books and movies along with topics of interest of my followers.
