We are so delighted to share the news that Elizabeth Banks will be taking on the mantle of one of our absolutely favorite teachers ever, Ms. Frizzle! A live adaptation of classic 90s educational cartoon “The Magic School Bus” has long been rumored, so this is really exciting for fans of the field trip obsessed. Universal Pictures is home to this project.
As Variety reports, Banks will be producing the film, with Max Handelman for Brownstone Productions, Iole Lucchese for Scholastic, Caitlin Friedman, along with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel for Marc Platt Productions. Alison Small will serve as executive producer for Brownstone Productions.
Scholastic Entertainment’s President and Chief Strategy Officer Iole Lucchese said:
“We are delighted to bring to life the iconic Ms. Frizzle and her zest for knowledge and adventure in a fresh new way that inspires the next generation of kids to explore science and supports the dedicated teachers who help make science real and accessible for young learners every day.”
No word yet on a possible release date for the project, or if we’ll be seeing live-action versions of the iconic students (AND LIZ!) of the Frizz.
