‘Twilight’ fans are buzzing on the internet after author, Stephenie Meyer, announced the release of the long awaited ‘Midnight Sun.’
The writer put a countdown on her website at the end of April. Fans quickly began speculating what the announcement might have been about. Some were hoping for the sequel to Meyer’s 2008 novel, ‘The Host.’ Others joked that it would merely be a rerelease of the Twilight series with new covers.
The curiosity was strong among the fans. So much so, that Meyer’s website crashed as the countdown neared its end. Many fans had to rely on social media to break the news.
When the time finally came, however, many rejoiced when the news broke that Meyer was finally releasing ‘Midnight Sun’ – a retelling of the Twilight story from Edward Cullen’s perspective. The 46 year-old writer has been working on this particular novel for over a decade.
In a letter to her readers she states:
“I don’t know how everyone else is coping, but right now books are my main solace and happiest escape. Personally, I would be nothing but delighted if one of my favorite authors announced something new for me to read. (No pressure, Laini Taylor.) So, I hope this announcement gave you some pleasure and something fun to look forward to.”

‘Midnight Sun’ has a release date of August 4, 2020. This summer seems to be a time of nostalgia. The announcement of ‘Midnight Sun’ comes in close proximity to the release of the prequel to another beloved series – ‘Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ a Hunger Games novel.
