Yoshitaka Amano is one of the greatest artists of our time. If you play video games, or watch anime, or even read certain books then you know who I am talking about. If you don’t know his name that is okay! I am certain you know his artwork of course.
Possibly from Final Fantasy 6 (3)
Final Fantasy 7
Or maybe Vampire Hunter D (a personal favorite)
If that rings a bell then I am happy to announce that our friend Yoshitaka recently paired up with Vogue Italy. And get this, no models were used, no photography was used, just his artwork!
“All of the covers, as well as the features of our January issue, have been drawn by artists, ranging from well-known art icons and emerging talents to comic book legends, who have created without traveling, shipping entire wardrobes of clothes, or polluting in any way,” editor-in-chief Emanuele Farneti wrote on Instagram. “The challenge was to prove it is possible to show clothes without photographing them. Thanks to this idea, and to these artists’ process, the money saved in the production of this issue will go towards financing a project that really deserves it: the restoration of Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice, severely damaged by the recent floods,”
This issue is set to release January 7th. How I wish I could get this issue here in the states!
