Filming has wrapped on Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music, only a few months after it started in June. Writer Ed Solomon announced the wrap and posted some pictures from the set in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also posted a video of the crew as well as a comparison shot of the crew from Bill&Ted’s Excellent Adventure and the Face the Music crew.
Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William Bill S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore Ted Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.
The official synopsis for Face the Music
Keanu Reeves (Ted), Alex Winter (Bill), and William Sadler (Death) are reprising their roles from the previous movies in the franchise. Also returning are Amy Stoch as Bill’s stepmom, Missy, and Hal Landon, Jr. as Ted’s dad, Captain Logan.
They are joined by Brigette Lundy-Paine (Billie Logan) and Samara Weaving (Thea Preston) as their daughters. Samara Weaving is the niece of Hugo Weaving, who acted with Reeves in The Matrix. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Weaving said that she hadn’t seen the movies before being cast, but has since watched them multiple times and fallen in love with them. Of her role she said,
It was quite intimidating playing the daughter of Bill, because you’re watching them and they’re so good at it. They’re very much different in a lot of ways. Preparing the voice and the way they move was a lot of fun. But they’re right in front of you, so you really wanna make them proud, to make Alex and Keanu think that we can pull it off. And I hope we did. It’s so much pressure. Because I know a lot of fans have a lot of anticipation about it.
The cast also includes Holland Taylor (Great Leader), Kid Cudi (unknown role), Erinn Hayes (Princess Elizabeth), Jayma Mays (Princess Joanna), Jillian Bell (Dr. Taylor Wood), Kristen Schaal (Kelly), Beck Bennett (Deacon Logan), and Anthony Carrigan (unknown villain).
Kelly Carlin, daughter of the late George Carlin who played Rufus in the first two films, will also be appearing.
Face the Music will arrive in theaters August 21, 2020.
