If you ever wanted to follow OJ Simpson on Twitter now is the time to do it. While he doesn’t hold a verified account, he has now 245k follwers after only one tweet. He opened this account only two days after the 25th anniversary of his ex-wife’s murder. Whether that was intentional or not it is being viewed being in poor taste for the former NFL star.
“Hey twitter world this is yours truly. Now coming soon to twitter you’ll get to read all my thoughts and opinions on just about everything. Now there’s a lot of fake OJ accounts out there, so this one @TheRealOJ32 is the only official one. So it should be a lot of fun. I’ve got a little getting even to do so God bless, take care.”
Now one could argue that him saying he’s got “a little getting even to do” seems daunting, but according to his attorney Malcolm LaVergne, he will not be using twitter to settle any scores.
LaVergne told CNN “Mr. Simpson is the most positive person I’ve ever met. He’s also very well informed on current events. He will not be negative. Nor will he comment on the LA thing. It will be one of the best accounts on Twitter to follow.”
“The LA Thing”
The LA thing being referred to is the 1994 slaying of his Ex-Wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. If anyone wanted to hear anymore about that they could just pick up his book “If I Did It” and read all about what happened in his own words. While he was not convicted for the murders of the two he was viewed as guilty by the general public. Goldman’s family was eventually awarded the rights the book and then re titled it to “I did it”. They view the book as his confession for the murder.
OJ was convicted in 2007 on a charge for robbery and kidnapping when he entered a hotel room to steal back some of his memorabilia. He was released from jail in October of 2017. Why the 71 year old OJ decided to start up his twitter account now, almost 2 years after being released is anyone’s guess. Maybe he just decided it’s time for him to be heard again. The response to his new twitter account seems to be mostly people who have an odd curiosity of where this will take them.
