(Epic intro music begins to play in the background)
It’s the moment that we have all be waiting for since the last Hobbit movie, well at least I have been waiting for! Amazon has officially announced it’s purchased the television rights of Lord of the Rings (I have been dancing around all day because of this). Amazon is said to have spent $250 million to to this. This will be a Amazon Prime original series, only streaming on their own service.
“Sharon and the team at Amazon Studios have exceptional ideas to bring to the screen previously unexplored stories bases on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original writings.”
Amazon has given a multi-season commitment to creating a Lord of the Rings series, this which might also include a spinoff series. What should we be expecting though? Amazon is said to be in works of a prequel series. This will take place either before the Hobbit or between the Hobbit and the Fellowship of the Ring. No cast, dates or further details have been released at this time.
