We had the chance to chat with two legends, “Wendell & Wild” director Henry Selick and actor James Hong. Selick is a titan of stop-motion, having directed “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “James and the Giant Peach,” and “Coraline.” His latest endeavor has him collaborating with Jordan Peele and is based on an original story by Selick.  Meanwhile Hong voices Father Bests, the headmaster of a local school. If you don’t visually recognize Hong you certainly know his voice. He has over 650 credits to his name and has 5 projects this year alone (including “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and…

We’re going to start out by saying “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is a different type of beast in the MCU. The show is very much a half hour comedy, which feels like quite the departure from much of the usual angsty fare. There are some spiritual siblings in things like Taika Waititi’s versions of Thor, or even the most recent “Ms. Marvel.” However the stakes in those still feel very “world is at risk.” But for Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, cousin to Bruce Banner, things are somewhat more contained (at least for the 4 episode preview reviewers were given).  Tatiana…

After watching Apple TV+’s “Luck,” we feel like we are the cursed ones. The new animated film centers around a just turned adult woman named Sam Greenfield (Eva Noblezada) who is “the unluckiest person in the world.” She meets a magical cat (voiced by Simon Pegg doing his best Craig Ferguson impression). What ensues is an excruciating 1 hour 37 minute “adventure” taking one through the land of Luck.  The film feels more like a series of Rube Goldberg machine-esque or overly choreographed sequences strung together. Sam’s bad luck seems to manifest in the form of physical clumsiness more often…

The key word when it comes to the Netflix series is “adaptation” for it is not exactly the same as the comic. We believe that the best on-screen transformations bring something of their own to the story. Listen on Apple Podcasts One of the most noticeable changes from the original comic run is that the series now takes place in the 2020s. Though the inciting incidents still…
