Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical “Moana 2” reunites Moana (voice of Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, “Moana 2” features music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and…

D23, the ultimate celebration of Walt Disney Studios, parks, and beyond, has kicked off in Anaheim, CA. While we did just have a very big news drop for Disney-owned Marvel Studios during San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) two weeks ago, it is very likely we’ll get some big news. Apparently audience members were given these envelopes at the beginning of the panel. The panel is kicking off now, so stick with us for updates as they come! Yvette Nicole…

I always knew I was justified in my love of QuentinTarantino, and a recent interview with the filmmaker cemented it. The “Pulp Fiction” writer/director has made no secret of his love of genre- mostly spaghetti Westerns and classic tales of pulp horror and science fiction. But what about…television? One could make the assumption from that whole thing where Tarantino was working on a “Star Trek” film script that perhaps his favorite show was the Gene Roddenberry-created classic. But that’s apparently not the case. Instead, he named MY favorite science fiction series as his favorite- Ronald D. Moore’s reimagined “Battlestar Galactica.”…

For some of us, the coolest someone has ever looked in film is Ellen Ripley taking on the Xenomorph in Ridley Scott’s “Alien.” And again in James Cameron’s “Aliens.” Okay and pretty much any film that had Sigourney Weaver being a badass in space. One of the big parts of the look was a pair of Reebok high top sneakers, affectionately known as “stompers.” A few fears ago, a very, VERY limited set of stompers were released for LV426 (April 26th, widely celebrated as “Alien Day”). But, those were only in men’s sizes, and there were only 426 pairs. Sure,…

We want to start by saying that headline is somewhat disingenuous. Yes, filmmaker David Lynch has disclosed his suffering from emphysema. Yes, he has said it has made it impossible for him to direct, but the main thing is “in person.” With Covid still very much a problem, it’s understandable for someone like Lynch to put his health first. So yes, while he “can no longer direct in person,” that doesn’t mean he’s done making films. Also, moral of this story? Yes, smoking causes health problems. “Smoking was something that I absolutely loved, but in the end, it bit me,” Lynch…

HBO’s flagship franchise “Game of Thrones” has to date had one spinoff series hit the small screen. This is a far cry from the once suggested 8 possible spinoffs set in that world we were supposed to get. “The House of the Dragon” just wrapped up it’s second season with the finale airing last night. Fans are….not happy. Without spoilers- the general consensus seems to be that not enough happened in the finale, with the story not moving enough one way or another. Author George RR Martin, who created the “Song of Ice and Fire,” has maintained “The House of…
