Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

“THIS HOUSE IS CLEAN.”….is it, though? Perhaps one of the most iconic totally-not-haunted-houses-with-pool in film history, this Simi Valley abode played a major part in Tobe Hooper’s 1982 classic, “Poltergeist.” If you’re a fan of that film, or are looking to relocate to the area in California, we have some news for you. The house is on the market, and listed on Zillow! *slaps water in pool* D’ya know how many corpse you can fit in this bad boy? It’s a lot! No telling what…amenities…it comes with. We’d throw in a visit from a local medium, honestly. 4267 Roxbury St, Simi…

There isn’t a week that goes by where I don’t think of or quote the late Anthony Bourdain. The chef-turned-author-turned-travel-host led quite a life, one he was never quiet or shy about sharing. Already the subject of numerous op-eds, retrospectives, and documentaries, one favorite studio has acquired an in-the-works biopic about the 6’4 service industry icon who unfortunately took his own life in 2018. A24 has reportedly made an offer for Star Thrower Entertainment’s Bourdain flick. The most interesting part of this news? The possible star currently rumored to play Tony, Oscar nominee Dominic Sessa, breakout of Alexander Payne’s “The…

Ok ok, we’ve all said some not nice things about the upcoming film “Hellboy: The Crooked Man.” Most of it isn’t fully fair, especially since we haven’t actually SEEN the movie yet. But, with so much cinematic reference for the Mike Mignola-created Dark Horse character, we feel we’re allowed to be critical, just a bit.Obviously the first time Big Red came to the big screen was back in 2004 from Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro. The character was brought to life in stunning fashion by Ron Perlman with an incredible makeup by Jake Garber. Seriously, he looked like he rose…
