It’s finally July in the longest year in the history of the human race, but that DOES mean we’re closer to the season 2 release of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy.” Today, the streaming service released a new trailer, a full-length (over three minutes!) one that gives us more to look forward to when the Hargreaves return. Same weird family. New weird problems. In the trailer, you’ll hear Gerard Way’s song “Here Comes The End.”“I was originally inspired to write this track when series one of The Umbrella Academy was being shot; by the time I finished it 2020 was in…
In a year where it seems like each day brings new setbacks and heartbreaks, looking forward to ANYTHING is kind of the only thing we can do. Today, Universal Pictures released a new teaser trailer for their upcoming film “Halloween Kills,” which is the direct sequel to 2018’s “Halloween” reboot (yet continuation???) of the original film starring Jamie Lee Curtis. The teaser, while great, comes with a bit of sad news, that Universal Pictures and Blumhouse are pushing back the release date of both “Halloween Kills” and “Halloween Ends” to October 15, 2021 and October 14, 2022 respectively.Check out the teaser…
We are so excited to announce that we’re FINALLY getting a sequel to one of our favorite books, “Ready Player One” by Ernie Cline. The sequel, which is coming later this year, is titled “Ready Player Two.” On the personal side, I am absolutely ecstatic for this news, as Cline is an awesome guy, and someone I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing a few times. As to this surprise book announcement, Cline told THR: “I had to start writing the sequel last year while the movie was being finished just to stay ahead of the curve. It’s a good problem…
There have been rumors off and on about the likelihood of Disney moving forward with another Tron film, and with the current success of Disney+, that platform seems like a surefire way to do it. Disney music executive Mitchell Leib, who oversaw DaftPunk’s incredible score for “Tron: Legacy,” recently spoke with podcast Light the Fuse about where the possibility of a third installment currently stands. And you know what? It sounds damn promising. “Now with Disney+, I think there’s opportunities to be creating content that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to create, you know because we’re in the movie…
If you’ll recall, Audible has amazing cast assembled for their new audiobook adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman.” Fans have been waiting for a taste of the project, and this morning, Audible released a very short teaser. From the official DC Comics posting of the teaser: Hailed by the Los Angeles Times Magazine as “the greatest epic in the history of comic books”, The Sandman changed the game with its dark, literary world of fantasy and horror – creating a global, cultural phenomenon in the process. At long last, Audible and DC present the first-ever audio production of the New…
This is probably the most exciting thing we’ve learned so far about the upcoming release of Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” director’s cut. If you’ll recall, when Snyder exited the big Warner Bros. Pictures film due to the tragic suicide of his daughter, Joss Whedon was brought in to complete the film. With this changing of the guards came several decisions that [we guess] made sense at the time, including a composer swap. Originally, Junkie XL aka Tom Holkenborg (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Deadpool,” “Alita: Battle Angel”) was tackling the score, but Whedon decided to replace him with Danny Elfman. At…
We will warn you right now, that this contains pretty big spoilers for Disney and Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Black Widow” film, directly from director Cate Shortland. So, if you don’t want to know about a huge reveal, please find something else to read (and/or DON’T start lambasting us for writing about this. You chose to read further.) Ok, still here? The spoilery news from Shortland pertains to the future of Oscar-nominated actress Florence Pugh, and the fact that she’ll be handed the mantle of an Avengers team member. In a recent interview with Empire, Shortland pretty much says outright that Scarlett Johanssen’s character…
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” ultimate edition hits HBO Max this weekend. Just in case you need a 3-hour plus Snyder experience.
Love it or hate it, Roland Emmerich’s 1996 summer blockbuster “Independence Day” remains one of the seminal films to watch on 4th of July. Aside from the title, what makes fans continually come back to this Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum-starring film?Let our friend MovieBob explain a bit, in the “Independence Day” episode of his youtube series “Really That Good.” As written and produced by MovieBob himself, Bob Chipman, you can scroll down further for the episode’s video: REALLY THAT GOOD is a new kind of film-criticism series, built around the radical premise that just because “everyone knows” a movie is…
