Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

In another timeline, “Dune Part Two” would’ve hit theaters this weekend. Obviously, that didn’t happen, for a number of reasons. We’ll have to wait til March to see the second chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal work. So yes, we’re sad about that, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t collectables to be had in the meantime!McFarlane Toys has released figures for the upcoming film, and we have to say, they’re pretty great. ESPECIALLY that Feyd (Austin Butler). Paddishaw Emperor Shaddam IV (Christopher Walken) A 4-Pack Including Gurney (Josh Brolin), Paul (Timothée Chalamet), Chani (Zendaya), and Stilgar (Javier…

Holiday Harbinger Mariah Carey has completed her annual defrost and returned to cause Christmas chaos. Well…kind of. Carey is a self-professed prankster, and therefor her surprising late night host Jimmy Kimmel along with merrymakers is pretty on-brand. Carey was a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night, and took her job as the First Horseman of the Holidays very seriously. She even presented Kimmel with a new t-shirt. Watch the video now:

It was one of the great television events- “Shōgun.” The 1980 5-part mini series was based on James Clavell’s 1975 novel of the same name, and captivated audiences. Hiroyuki Sanada (“Sunshine,” “Westworld”) stars as Lord Yoshii Toranaga, who is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him. The first teaser for 20th Century Studios’ “Kingdom in the Planet of the Apes” film has been released. The project was first announced by Fox in 2019. In 2022, the title and concept art for the fourth Apes installment were revealed, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. Early reports indicated this would be a story taking place decades (it not hundreds of years after the first trilogy), but that isn’t the case. We were curious what storyline this film was going to take, as Caesar, the main character, died at the end of the third film. “Kingdom” will follow Caesar…

This just in-a new bombshell report from Rolling Stone on the heels of a new lawsuit lobbed at HBO alleges that CEO Casey Bloys (who all on his own is a piece of work) ordered various staffers to create fake accounts across social media with the EXPRESS purpose of trolling critics. According to the report, Sully Temori, an HBO executive assistant, is now suing HBO for the practice.  Senior Vice President of Drama Programming at HBO Kathleen McCaffrey is also named. One of the examples given is a personal vendetta against Rolling Stone chief tv critic, Alan Sepinwall. Ah yes, Marvel Studios. That behemoth of entertainment which immediately brings to mind superheroes, box office records, and rabid fandom. Despite massive success across 15 years of projects, things seem to be settling to a less than ideal performance with recent releases. It’s been mostly doom and gloom from industry insiders, citing numerous things like bad VFX (“She-Hulk”), overly bloated budgets with limited returns (“Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania”), and a star who is leading the next phase of the MCU getting arrested and awaiting trial (Jonathan Majors). So, what’s next for the media magnate? We know some of the…

Ok so it does make SOME amount of sense that yet-another Steven King adaptation would get some kind of update today, the spookiest day of the year. Warner Bros. Pictures’ long-gestating “Salem’s Lot” reboot did premiere a trailer during CinemaCon 2022, and we expected some kind of update on a release by now. Most industry insiders were expecting at least another trailer, and maybe news of a theatrical release, likely during….you know…Halloween? But, that obviously didn’t happen.According to Variety, word on the Hollywood street is that the film is now headed to streaming on WB’s MAX. It’s worth noting that Warner…

Please don’t get us wrong- we still have very high hopes for Nia DaCosta’s (“Candyman”) “Captain Marvel” sequel, “The Marvels.” But, it sure seems like Marvel Studios and most of online court of opinions have given up on the flick. Early box office tracking made it look like the 32nd MCU release might be bowing with the lowest take yet. This is unfortunate, for many reasons. DaCosta is a great director, and her addition to the continual boys’ club in the MCU is a welcome one. This, paired with the still-ongoing narrative of Oscar winner Brie Larson “not being nice…
