Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Imagine you’re doing a google search for a song you adore, one that’s been covered more than once, and is a widely respected tune from a dearly departed unearthly being. In this case, David Bowie’s classic melancholiac tune “The Man Who Sold The World,” and just exactly who Google things wrote it. Enter Duncan Jones, filmmaker and son of the late great Bowie, who tweeted this image of his recent Google search results when looking for that particular track. Yes, Nirvana DID do an absolutely delightful cover of the song during their iconic MTV Unplugged session, but WROTE it? Yeah…

Every so often, I fall down a music video rabbit hole. I’m sure we all do it- watching every possible version of a particular song, because it’s on our minds. That’s what happened to me just the other night, and I’m seriously glad it did, because A-Ha’s “Take On Me” is so much more than just a music video. It’s ART. Obviously, we’re not talking about the FIRST version of the music video, released in 1984, which was SO FREAKING DIFFERENT. Like….absolutely completely different. We’re talking about the second video, released in May of 1985, with its absolutely GORGEOUS mix…

Just how many times is BossLogic gonna be right with his spot-on casting, anyway?! (We say that with nothing but love, because we adore him and his art!) The newest confirmation that goes in line with a piece of BossLogic fan-casting artwork is the long-mentioned casting of Oscar Isaac as Solid Snake in a live-action film adaptation of video game title “Metal Gear Solid.” Deadline reported the news, saying that sources have confirmed to them this is a done deal for Isaac to play Solid Snake, and so does The Hollywood Reporter (so we’re more inclined to believe it now).…

STARZ released an official trailer for the upcoming 3rd season of their series “American Gods,” based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman. If you’ll recall, the adventures of said series have been notable, so say the least. Originally developed by Bryan Fuller who eventually parted ways with STARZ due to “creative differences,” the show is now on it’s third showrunner. Fuller’s exit also prompted Gillian Anderson, who played the character Media, to quit due to her close ties to Fuller. There is also the matter of the absolute bullshit firing of Orlando Jones, following his accusations…

While we’re still rather sad and disappointed we’re not getting more “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” on Netflix following part 4, we are pretty pleased to be getting a set ending.
