Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Imagine if you will, someone who really loves “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” Like, loves it so much, that he annually recreates Clark Griswold’s iconic light display. Jeff Norton of La Mirada, California is just such a man. This is the fourth year Norton has decorated, and the display is apparently causing problems. Specifically, a new addition in the guise of a fake second-story added to his house. According to the local ABC affiliate, the City wants that part removed. Okay, so…for better or worse, we’re never going to be fully free of “Tiger King.” After the initial documentary took the world by storm, Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin, and co. have become household names. One personality from season 1 isn’t really around in season 2, and we kind of know why now. Mahamayavi Bhagavan Antle, aka Doc Antle, is another exotic animal…aficionado…who owns and operates his own menagerie in South Carolina. You may recall him from “Tiger King” as the pale pony-tailed former associate of both Exotic and Baskin’s. He’s now joining the fray with his very own 3-episode spinoff…

Okay, so, this isn’t the most detailed nor long update, but Millennium Films’ upcoming “Red Sonja” reboot is still happening. And, more importantly, Hannah John-Kamen is still attached to star as the She-Devil with a Sword. We first broke the news back in May, with the announcement of the “Ant-Man and The Wasp” not-a-villain actor would be bringing the character to life. Red Sonja made her first appearance in the pages of Conan #23 back in 1973. She was created by Robert E. Howard, Roy Thomas, and Barry Windsor-Smith. And, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the late great Frank Thorne’s…

There have plenty of times we were envious of Stephen Colbert. His friendship with such incredible filmmakers as Peter Jackson for instance. But perhaps the most recent example- because it’s “Dune” related- has us jealous beyond words. If you’ll recall, Colbert hosted a Q&A with the cast back in 2020. It’s obvious the Frank Herbert seminal science fiction novel is a favorite of Stephen’s, and we can’t blame his fanboy moments at all. We’d probably be doing the same exact thing. But this new example came when Oscar winner Javier Bardem stopped by “The Late Show” to chat. Bardem not only…

The ongoing fallout following the tragedy that occurred on the set of western film “Rust” is far from over. Alec Baldwin, producer and star of the film, as well as the literal smoking gun holder, is once again speaking out. I didn’t pull the trigger,” Baldwin tells Stephanopoulos. Which of course raises the question…then…
