Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

As a HUGE fan of the late great Anne Rice and her works, I am beyond disappointed in AMC’s newest adaptation series, “The Mayfair Witches.” Based on Rice’s Mayfair trilogy (which later tied into the Vampire Chronicles), the show LOOSELY follows main character Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) and the family ghost, Lasher (Jack Huston). From there, all pretense at following the source material goes away. I’m going to apologize in advance for being so angry in this review, but I feel the showrunners/writers owe ME an apology for what I had to sit through. Just go read the books. You’ll…

Newly minted co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn is teasing a new television series project. While yes, Gunn helmed HBO Max’s “Peacemaker” series to much acclaim, that’s not what this one is. In a tweet, Gunn teased an “unannounced” DC tv show, with a smiley face. The emoji probably isn’t a clue, but, we can’t rule it out, either. The mystery project could be anything. Key point being “unannounced,” so, it’s probably NOT “Green Lantern” or any of “The Batman” offshoots currently in the works. There was a rumored additional “The Suicide Squad” spinoff….something…but no further intel has surfaced. Gunns’…

It sounds like reshoots are needed for the upcoming live-action movie “Borderlands.” Based on the popular Gear Box video game series, Eli Roth (“Inglorious Basterds,” “Hostel”) directed the film, which wrapped production in June of 2021. Reshoots are really not an uncommon thing, and are not as sometimes reported a bad thing. Roth was reportedly unable to oversee the needed reshoots due to a new project, so “Deadpool” director Tim Miller stepped in to do it. We DO know there were test screenings in November of 2022, so it’s likely something needed to be fine-tuned. According to sources, it’s two…
