Olivia Wilde to Direct Rob Liefeld’s “Avengelyne” Movie

In 1995, Maximum Press released the first issue of “Avengelyne,” a comic created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian. The series tells the story of an angel who fights the forces of evil, like demons and monsters. While there have been talks of a film adaptation for some time, this project may finally be coming to fruition.

Olivia Wilde (“Don’t Worry Darling”) is now attached to direct this feature adaptation of the series.

“Avengelyne” will be produced by Margot Robbie‘s LuckyChap banner. “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” writer/director Simon Kinberg is attached to produce as well. Kinberg previously worked as a producer the “Deadpool” films, based on the comics also created by Liefeld.

This project is still in the very early stages of production. So much so, that the package itself is still being put together. However, the team hopes to present “Avengelyne” to studios and streamers in the coming weeks.

At this time, we don’t know what the plot for the film adaptation will be. The “Avengelyne” comics centered around a fallen angel cast to Earth. She must find and protect “The One,” a person who is the key to protecting humanity from demons and other monsters.

Given Robbie’s background in comic book films, playing Harley Quinn in multiple DC movies, rumors are already starting to swirl that she will star in “Avengelyne.” But there seems to be absolutely no basis for these claims.

We will keep you posted on updates about “Avengelyne” as they become available.
