Pillsbury is celebrating Summerween (spooky season pre-gaming) by bringing back its beloved line of Halloween sugar cookies. In addition to the standard purple ghost and orange pumpkin, the company will be bringing back the black cat shape! With full-on spooky season only a few months away, studios are beefing up their slated horror releases. Genre icon Jeffrey Combs (“Re-Animator,” “Star Trek: Lower Decks”) has just joined the cast of “Mystery of the Mothman.” The movie will be the feature directorial debut of Austin Birtch.  “Mystery of the Mothman” will explore the long-standing legend of the mysterious cryptid. It’s on like a prawn that yawns at dawn! Nintendo and Universal Pictures have filed a copyright notice for an untitled “Donkey Kong” film, based on the long-running video game franchise.  The companies put in a copyright filing for an “Untitled Donkey Kong Project; Motion Picture.” Nintendo Studios LLC is listed as the copyright holder, with Universal Pictures listed as a 2nd party.  This will be the latest in a long line of film adaptations of Nintendo IPs. Police departments receive numerous unusual reports every year, but we believe San Bernardino, California’s will have the most unusual of 2025. Around noon on July 13th, the Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a teddy bear seemingly wrapped in human skin. The bizarre object was found outside the AMPM store in Victorville. The store is located at the 1300 block of Bear Valley Road… So they’re potentially dealing with a maniac who likes puns! Glen Powell is doing his part to promote James Gunn’s “Superman,” which hit theaters on July 11th. Powell re-shared a video of the “Twisters” cast celebrating their co-star David Corenswet getting the role as the Man of Steel. During the filming of “Twisters” in 2023, Corenswet called and told the cast he got the part. Filmed by Brandon Perea, the video shows Powell, Harry Hadden-Paton, and Sasha Lane reacting to the news. Are you ready for yet another major Hollywood merger?! Of course, you are! With both Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount-Skydance mergers going so well! Horrible jokes aside, Legendary Entertainment is possibly acquiring Lionsgate Studios. Legendary is behind cinematic powerhouses like “Dune,” “Godzilla,” and “The Minecraft Movie,”  while Lionsgate has “John Wick” and “The Hunger Games.”  We haven’t seen this much cool crossover potential since Atomic Monster and Blumhouse merged.  This is all coming on the heels of Lionsgate splitting from STARZ by separating its cable network from the studio end.
