We are deep into the Christmas movie season and director Chris Columbus is opening up about quitting “Christmas Vacation” to make “Home Alone.” Why would he bail on one iconic Christmas movie for another? As it turns out, “Vacation” franchise star Chevy Chase (“Community”) was impossible to work with. 1989’s “Christmas Vacation” was the third entry into the National Lampoon series. We have some bad news for fans of Bond, James Bond. A recent report indicates we may not see any new movies about the gadget-centric MI6 agent for a while. The reason? A good old-fashioned standoff between Amazon MGM and the Broccoli family, who oversee the franchise for Eon Production. Eon’s long-running spy franchise is based on a series of books by Ian Fleming that debuted in 1962. It’s beginning to look a lot like Snakemas, everywhere you go. After laying dormant for almost 17 years, the “28 Days Later” horror franchise is picking up steam. The long-awaited sequel “28 Years Later” will hit theaters on June 20th, 2025, kicking off a brand new trilogy. The next entry, “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple,” has just been given a January 16th, 2026 release date. Sony Animation and Netflix know who to call, Ghostbusters! The companies are teaming up on a new animated film based on the legendary franchise. The project is in the early development stages, but word has it Kris Pearn (“Hotel Transylvania”) will direct. Plot details are currently under wraps, but this will be the second project based on the IP Sony and Netflix are tackling. Since ancient Greece, people have been obsessed with unicorns. A24 Films is going to kill one in the aptly titled, “Death of a Unicorn.” The upcoming dark comedy will star Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man”) and Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”).
