We are deep into the Christmas movie season and director Chris Columbus is opening up about quitting “Christmas Vacation” to make “Home Alone.” Why would he bail on one iconic Christmas movie for another? As it turns out, “Vacation” franchise star Chevy Chase (“Community”) was impossible to work with. 1989’s “Christmas Vacation” was the third entry into the National Lampoon series. It was ultimately directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik (“Reginald the Vampire”), from a script by the late John Hughes (“The Breakfast Club”). It stars Chase alongside on-screen wife Beverly D’Angelo (“Drugstore June”) on yet another ill-fated Griswold family trip…
With the recent success of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movies, and the series “Last of Us” and “Fallout,” video game adaptations are booming. What about the concept in reverse though? Could you shoot a full movie inside of a video game? Well, the fine folks behind “Grand Theft Hamlet” will soon show us their attempt. “Grand Theft Hamlet” is a comedic documentary directed by Pinny Grylls and Sam Crane. During the 2021 COVID-19 lockdowns, the two out-of-work actors kept in touch using the video game “Grand Theft Auto V.” Due to boredom or just the love of a good troll,…
We have some bad news for fans of Bond, James Bond. A recent report indicates we may not see any new movies about the gadget-centric MI6 agent for a while. The reason? A good old-fashioned standoff between Amazon MGM and the Broccoli family, who oversee the franchise for Eon Production. Eon’s long-running spy franchise is based on a series of books by Ian Fleming that debuted in 1962. There are 25 films based on the character, the most recent being 2021’s “No Time to Die” starring Daniel Craig. It was well known the project would end Craig’s five-movie contract. And…

(The first is a separate upcoming animated series, done in partnership with Ghost Corps.) This film will be a part of the expanding “Ghostbusters” universe, which already includes five live-action movies, two existing animated series, video…
Since ancient Greece, people have been obsessed with unicorns. A24 Films is going to kill one in the aptly titled, “Death of a Unicorn.” The upcoming dark comedy will star Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man”) and Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”). The film follows a father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) who accidentally hit a unicorn with their car. To complicate matters even more, it happens on the way to a weekend retreat with the patriarch’s billionaire boss, Dell Leopold. After realizing what they have done they stash the (not so) mythical creature in their SUV in hopes they can deal with it later. Once…
