Author: Heath Andrews

Heath Andrews has been a student of pop culture ever since he found himself to be the only student in 3rd grade who regularly watched "Get Smart" on Nick-At-Nite. Ever since then he's been engrossed in way too much media with a growing collection of music, books, comics, TV on DVD box sets, and a video game collection that could rival a brick and mortar store. Prior to writing for Nerdbot he's written for Review You, MyAnimeList, and various advertising companies.

It is truly hard to fathom how banning books is a good thing, and that the occurrence still exists. To some, it’s a suppression of free speech. To others, it’s a suppression of ideas. Many compare the practice to an Orwellian nightmare of authoritarian control and subjugation. Or hey, maybe it’s just a good-natured attempt to stop people from learning things you don’t want them to. According to one school in Texas, one of those things that needs to be suppressed is a graphic novel adaptation of Anne Frank’s “The Diary of a Young Girl.” Oh, and also The Bible. The…

Another social media trend, another set of circumstances that nearly costs lives. It should be painfully aware to most people that a great deal of social media trends are moronic. The risks involved often aren’t worth it. How many wildfires and deaths does it take for people to realize that explosive gender reveal parties for babies aren’t going to make you famous in a good way? At least with most of these trends though, they’re not strictly illegal. The same can’t be said though for one that teaches how to steal cars. In 2021, a group of people started posting…

“The Goonies” holds a special place in the hearts of many. The adventurous comedy featured a list of names both in-front of and behind the camera that resonate with people to this day. Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Coredy Feldman, and Joe Pantoliano all featured in the cast. The story was created by Steven Spielberg, turned into a screenplay by Chris Columbus, and directed by the late, great, Richard Donner. Even though its been 37 years since the film came out, interest has remained high. High enough apparently that it almost got a sequel. Pantoliano says an idea for a sequel…

The Canadian music scene is often stereotyped alongside several big names, Rush, Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, etc. What’s not as talked about is the alternative and punk scene that came out of Canada in the late 70’s and early 80’s. The Tragically Hip was one such group that drew some international fame and attention. Another that deserved such attention but never really achieved it, was Teenage Head. Now the long and noteworthy tales takes a solemn turn with the murder of lead guitarist Gord Lewis. Lewis was one of the group’s founding members in Hamilton, Canada back in 1975. Initially…

HBO Max hasn’t exactly been tearing things up in terms of solid decision-making lately. There’s a great deal to be said about the programming choices they’re making with HBO Max versus Discovery+, but that’s another discussion for another time. Still, it seems like there’s no end to their absurdity as we now know that their recently acquire series, “Pennyworth” was a new name for season 3, and it’s facepalmingly awful. Having aired on Epix for the past two seasons but moving to HBO Max, “Pennyworth” will now be titled “Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler.” We can’t say the decision…

Sometimes when the axe of cancellation swings, it swings hard and it swings heavily. We’ve been seeing this at HBO Max when it comes to their original content. The biggest casualty of all this has been “Batgirl.” If a big project like this got shelved, then there had to be some smaller productions that were going to suffer too. Thanks to some info from Kevin Smith, we know about at least one more of them that was on the chopping block. One of the DC projects that was set to come to HBO Max was an anthology series called “Strange…
