Sometimes life moves a lot faster than you think it does. 2025 marks 11 years since the fatal accident that claimed the life of camerawoman Sarah Jones on the set of “Midnight Rider.” The subsequently cancelled film was being directed by Randall Miller, and was literally on its first day of filming when the accident happened. Due to Miller’s part in Jones’ death, he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to ten years of prison and probation. Now, Miller’s conviction is cleared and he’s able to work as a director again. It’s depressing and enraging to revisit a…

There are few things more alarming than hearing a mysterious noise and not knowing what it is or what it’s coming from. That’s the kind of thing that taps into our survival instincts as human beings. Even when it’s not a matter of survival, finding the origin of a strange noise is something that we can almost feel compelled to do, especially if it’s coming from somewhere like space. For the last decade or so, scientists have been picking up odd radio emissions from an area of space that really shouldn’t be giving off pulses like this, but it looks…
It has oft been said that art imitates life. Of course, this can be interchangeable in the sense that life can also imitate art. Such is the case with the classic edutainment game, The Oregon Trail. It has reigned long over many an old school computer as the go to place to have fun while learning. Those who played will remember trying to manage resources only to lose them while fording a river or trying to keep everyone alive until a family member died of dysentery. Yes, dysentery. Not one of those diseases you often think of but there’s been…
It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 3 and a half years since the tragic on set death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. She was shot while filming scenes for the Western film “Rust.” There should have been safety procedures and oversight in place to avoid this kind of tragedy from occurring. That was clearly not the case, and there are still many questions unanswered. An upcoming documentary from Hulu is hoping to shed more light on this. In October of 2021, two people were shot on set of “Rust.” Director Joel Souza was injured, and Hutchins was killed. The…
In 2013 the world said goodbye to the US version of “The Office.” After nine seasons, seven of them with Steve Carell in the lead, it was time to see things off. Thanks largely to rebroadcasts, and Netflix / Peacock streaming, the program has remained incredibly popular and is now one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. An official spinoff is happening, that takes place in the same universe as the show. Sometimes revivals work, other times they’re disasters. We won’t know which one this will be yet, but we do now know that a familiar face will…
Unless you specifically lived there, there would be no reason to know about these small Oklahoma city of Chickasha. The same could be said about any number of small towns scattered throughout the United States. But Chickasha actually does have something noteworthy that no other city could really lay claim to. In its downtown area, Chickasha plays home to a 50-ft statue in the shape of the leg lamp made famous in the movie “A Christmas Story.” It’s an iconic prop from an iconic movie and has proved something of a local icon for the small city. Reportedly, many of…
It is with a very heavy heart that we report the passing of one of the greatest actors in the history of Hollywood. Gene Hackman has passed away at his home in New Mexico. The loss is even more emotionally devastating in that Hackman’s wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were also found deceased as well. Local law enforcement has issued a search warrant, due to the deaths being “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation.”A neighbor, concerned about the couple’s wellbeing, called authorities which prompted a wellfare check, leading to the discovery of Hackman, Arakawa, and…
We’re going to be honest with you here, we have no idea what’s going on with the Oscars when it comes to how they’re treating music. Earlier this year, the academy decided they were going to axe the performances for the nominees for Best Original Song. In lieu of this, they stated they would be including, “powerful musical moments that connect film’s rich history to its bold and inspiring future.” You might be wondering, “what the hell does that mean?” We’ve been wondering that too. We still don’t exactly know, but the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Academy…
Oh, the 1980s. A decade of flash and neon, now represented by grids and synth music. It was a time period that brought us a number of pop culture icons that are still relevant today. Funko is celebrating that colorful decade with a new line of Pop Vinyls and more in their “I Love the ’80s” collection! Where to even start with this line-up. If you like cartoons, they’ve got you covered with “Masters of the Universe,” “Jem and the Holograms,” and “The Real Ghostbusters” for starters. But what if you prefer your cartoons based on greeting card companies? Congrats,…
There are few things more morbidly interesting than accidents at amusement parks. A large part of it is the contrast in circumstances. Rides of all kinds, from roller coasters to bumper cars are supposed to be fun. When something tragic or terrifying happens with one of these rides, the mental dissonance resonates with people. Fortunately, these accidents are rare but they can often result in death or permanent injury. A woman from Arizona found this out in 2022 and she’s just been awarded $7.25 million for what she went through. Pamela Morrison was visiting Universal Studios Hollywood with her grandson…
