Netflix is the epitome of entertainment with the most expansive selection of shows, movies, and documentaries. The content catalogues are based on the users’ location, meaning Canadians can access the local Netflix library. If a show is streaming on US Netflix only, it won’t be available on Netflix in Canada.

Though Canadian Netflix is better than other libraries in terms of the movie collection when it comes to series, the US Netflix collection is extensive. This is why Canadians need to know how to get access of Netflix US exclusives from Canada so that they don’t feel like they are missing out on the top series that their neighbors are enjoying.

Here is a brief comparison of US and Canadian Netflix to ascertain that you are getting your money’s worth.

Shows only available on US Netflix

Let’s dive into the details of the shows only available on American Netflix, making Canadians feel left out. After dealing with the elephant in the room, we will search for the perfect solutions so you can enjoy US Netflix from anywhere.

    1.   Portlandia

Portlandia is a sketch comedy revolving around the myth and reputation of Portland and Oregon. It is a common perception that the largest number of eccentric hipsters inhabits Portland, and this comedy is challenging your belief in hilarious ways.

Hosted by the fantastic comedic duo Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen, this series pokes fun at the laid-back citizens of Portland. Portlandia is one of the most successful comedy series, and it has gathered a cult following with pointed sarcasm, sketches, and a lively tone.

If you are in the mood for laughter, this series is definitely for you. Being a Canadian, we want an equal share of humour and laughter; as the series is not available on Canadian Netflix, a VPN is much needed to watch it.

    2.   Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks can be categorized as a horror mystery drama. The story is set in a small-town Deerfield, Wash. An FBI agent, Desmond, suddenly disappears while hunting for the murderer of a teenage girl. The authorities fail to apprehend the murderer.

After experiencing supernatural encounters and dark visions, Agent Dale predicts that the murderer will kill another teenager. While everyone is trying to save a life, Lara living in the cozy town of Twin Peak, hangs out with lowlifes, not knowing about an impending disaster. Twin Peaks bring a much-needed dose of suspense, horror, mystery, and thrill to our life.

    3.  The Great British Bake Off

For food lovers, The Great British Bake Off is a dream come true. The show’s main concept is to evaluate how amateur bakers will compete with each other to impress a group of judges with their baking skills.

The show provides different challenges, including signature challenge, technical challenge, and the showstopper challenge. The signature challenge is all about baking the dish the participants are best known for.

    4.  Stargate SG-1

Stargate SG-1 is a fantasy adventure military science fiction. SG-1 is an elite operation team of the United States Air force consisting of around 20 team members from the earth. They are assigned to explore the galaxy and defend the planet against an alien invasion.

The involvement of aliens and their evil plans, spaceships, wars, and the attempt to bring peace to earth makes this series worth watching. If you are a fan of alien invasions and attempts of humans to protect their home planet, Stargate SG-1 will be a perfect choice for you.

    5.  The Twilight Zone

After the end of World War II, Peter Jenson visits a psychoanalyst with a problem. He dreams about a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor and warns everyone, but the warnings are disregarded. As he travels back to 1941 every night, he is consulting the expert for the analyses. Dr. Gillespie tells Peter that time travel is impossible. Ironically, Dr. Gillespie later goes to a bar and finds a picture of Peter on the wall when the waiter informs him that he was killed during an attack on Pearl Harbor.

Simple steps to watch US Netflix series in Canada

One of the easiest solutions to get your hands on the shows only available in the US from Canada is to use a VPN. The following steps will guide you on how you can watch American Netflix in Canada.

    1. Download a premium VPN service (ExpressVPN, NordVPN, Surfshark) and subscribe to a payment plan.
    2. Connect to the US server of the VPN (now you are in the US).
    3. Open the Netflix app.
    4. Search for the show title and enjoy!

    Closing

As Canadians have a limited selection of TV series compared to their American neighbours, investing in a VPN seems like a feasible solution. With the exclusive list of the US Netflix shows, you now know what is worth watching.

All you need now is a comfortable couch, a VPN, chilled drinks, and you are all set to relax. Happy streaming!
