Dulé Hill (“Psych,” “The West Wing)” is set to star alongside Elisha “EJ” Williams and Saycon Sengbloh in “The Wonder Years” reboot for ABC. Newcomer Laura Kariuki is going to be a series regular on the single camera sitcom. The reboot comes from Saladin Patterson, Fred Savage, and Lee Daniels.

The reboot will tell the story of a black family growing up in the late 1960’s. Originally the show featured the Arnold’s a white middle class family growing up in the turbulent time. This version will show us how the Williamses, a black middle-class family from Montgomery, AL handle the same changes.
Hill will play Bill Williams, Dean’s (Elisha Williams) dad. He will be a music professor by day and a funk musician by night. Bill will be described as “The baddest guy I knew” by Dean. A large part of the story will surround how Bill wants his neighborhood to remain self-sufficient. And how he will put his money where his mouth is.
Kariuki is Kim Williams will play Dean’s older teenage sister who is preparing to go to college.
The “Wonder Years” reboot will be produced by 20th Television. Patterson and Savage executive produce along with Daniels and Marc Velez via Lee Daniels Entertainment. Neal Marlens who is the original series co-creator is serving as a consultant.
