10 Powerful Life Lessons From “Boku No Hero Academia”

Izuku Midoriya has managed to captivate audiences for over 3 years, with many people — myself included, beginning and finally growing with the Japanese superhero manga series, “My Hero Academia.” This is just a testament to the popularity of the anime. But why is it exactly so popular?

The Anime and Manga, “Boku No Hero Academia,” appeals to many people regardless of age because of how many valuable lessons it has. There is almost never a Canon Arc that doesn’t result in a practical life lesson learned for the viewer. That’s what makes the show so great and long-lasting. With that said: here is a list of 11 life lessons from the our different Heroes and Antagonists

    1. If you don’t like your destiny, change it

“If you don’t like your destiny, don’t accept it. Instead, have the courage to change it the way you want it to be.”

Izuku Midoriya makes us feel through the work of Kohei Horikoshi, in a world where he’s born quirkless in a society that relies uniquely on extraordinary powers.

But nevertheless, over the years, he clings to what fascinated him the most: Becoming a Hero.

Deku is always hanging on to his will and determination to get what he wants, increasing his chances of proving his own worth to his destiny.

In the same way, we must constantly develop ourselves and be passionate about what we like to do in order to succeed.

    2. Love your parents (Ochako Uraraka)

Your family will be your greatest strength throughout your life adventure and development.

They will always be there for you, always love you, never let you down and will support your choices until you succeed. That’s why it’s good to show them you care, because they’re the real Heroes!

    3. Never judge a person from past experiences

Shoto Todoroki represents the hero he reflects in Anime. Cold and distant, with a relatively heavy past. Due to his intensive training, solicited by his father, Endeavor, to surpass All Might.

He’s very experienced in fighting, being able to stay calm and steady even when fighting real villains. And he has strong ethics as a hero despite his reserved attitude, combined with his solitary personality.

This information is always relevant in life, with the life lesson being:

Never be fooled by appearances. Always respect the person with whom you are speaking with and be empathetic.

    4. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the greater good

“When you have to save someone, they’re usually in a scary situation. A true hero saves not only their lives, but also their hearts… That’s what I believe.” – Nana Shimura

The 5th lesson is that of humility, which allows you to know the opinions, choices and feelings before making your own choices and to find common ground with your surroundings.

    5. Yagi Toshinori

“The success of a hero is not measured by the number of villains defeated, but by his efficiency and his dedication to the citizens.”

This lesson reminds me of a common quote: “Not all heroes wear capes.”

It’s important to remain aware that evolution (mind and behaviour) is built over time. And to get a good result, you have to be good and fate will pay you back.

    6. A smile can get you out of the toughest situation, even if it’s fake

Thanks to Nana Shimura’s education, All Might has always tended to smile to reassure the population, but it has a completely different meaning.

Despite hard work or fear in your life, it won’t change anything to feel sorry for yourself. Being yourself and being positive is the best weapon and your future will thank you for it.

    7. If a situation overwhelms you, step back and think strategically about it

You need a strategy to achieve what you want to do. Experience is one thing, but sometimes you have to step back and adapt to the situation by reflecting on it.

    8. Never give up

“Never give up, despite the demeaning words of a person who is dear to you. Do not be discouraged.”

Izuku Midoriya spent his childhood being bullied because he was born quirkless.

Despite this, he’s able to stand out and become the new owner of the One for all quirk.

Deku’s story expresses the fact of not being discouraged if you have weaknesses. People’s negative words only have value if you cling to them.

    9. We judge people based on our perception of right and wrong

If people understood that judging others is a reflection of themselves, they wouldn’t judging so quick.

It’s because people think that their opinion is right that they keep judging others. They’re so full of themselves that they replace the truth with their own opinions.

Morality is by definition, principles pertaining to what is right and wrong.

    The keyword here is “principles.”

Principles are defined as a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior. Meaning morality isn’t about what’s right and wrong. It’s just what people think is right.

Morality can’t be the truth because it’s not based on facts. It’s based on people’s opinion. And people are imperfect.

How can you expect something to be perfect when’s created by something that isn’t perfect?

The lesson here is to never judge a person’s way of being without trying to understand them.

    10. Success takes time, investment, and humility

To complete my analysis of Boku No Hero Academia, success takes time, no matter how good you are or you can be. Izuku Midoriya admires Katsuki Bakugo, but Kacchan was always above him until the moment when the roles were reversed. After Deku gets his quirk. And since the evolution of both heroes, they’ve grown thanks to their rivalries.

The lesson here is: you must invest all your energy to give the best of yourself. And use your himility, critical thoughts and more to succeed.

Hard work matters as much as natural talent.

I’ll end with this quote that fits perfectly with the message:

“You can’t hire someone to practice for you.”
