Back in September 2019, WB Games Montreal released a partial teaser image, simply with the caption, “Capture the Knight / Cape sur la nuit.” They soon after releases more images, which was then compiled into a short video. Take a look!

Do you know what these images are related to? If you guessed The Court of Owls, you’re probably right! Here’s a shot of the Court of Owls crest found in the pages of New 52 Batman:

Who are the Court of Owls?

The Court of Owls was introduced in the New 52 relaunch of the Batman series, issue #3. They are a secret society made up of Gotham’s elite, powerful and wealthy, whom apparently have been pulling the strings from behind the curtains since as early as the 1600s. When Bruce Wayne announces his plans to rebuild Gotham city for a brighter future, the Court of Owls decide that this interferes with their established roots and undiscovered lairs. They send a Talon (high ranked Owls assassin) William Cobb, to assassinate him and fail, thus drawing Batman into their world.

Is 2020 the year of the Batman’s return?

Fans have been clamoring at the idea of a new Batman game in the Arkham action adventure series, since our last outing was in 2015 with Arkham Knight. While Rocksteady Studios developed Arkham Asylum, City and Knight, WB Games Montreal did in fact develop Arkham Origins. If all of this information wasn’t enough to convince you that a new Batman game was in the works, maybe long time, best selling Batman author Scott Snyder’s now deleted tweet can seal the deal!

Finally, we have the most recent image uploaded by WB Games Montreal, posted today.

While this image doesn’t quite look related to the Court of Owls, I think a strong argument is that it resembles a police badge. Perhaps this is a tease for the Gotham City Police Department’s significance or focus on the new project?
