With studios desperate to keep Gen Z coming to theaters, immersive screenings are on the rise. Lionsgate will be hosting 2 invite-only screenings for its upcoming sequel Fall 2: Deadpoint, where fans will have to stand on a ledge. This has to be one of the weirdest ways to ask audiences to play along that we’ve ever seen.

2022’s Fall tells the story of Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), who set out to climb a 2,000-foot TV tower when things go horribly wrong. Fall 2 follows Jax (Harriet Slater), Hunter’s sister, as she is still grieving her death. Jax ends up connecting with Hunter’s fearless friend Luce (Arsema Thomas). They decide to embark on Mount Kwan’s dangerous plank walk in Thailand. When a rockslide traps them on a narrow plank 3000 feet up, Jax must face her fears to survive.
Now the studio is asking audiences to stay on a ledge for these 2 LA screenings on August 22nd. They are “designed to bring the core thrills of the film to life, tapping into the fear of heights, as well as the exposure, vulnerability, and survival that define Fall 2: Deadpoint.” If a viewer falls off the ledge, they are ejected from the theater.
Michael and Peter Spierig will co-direct, with original Fall writer/director Scott Mann co-writing the script with Jonathan Frank. This will be the first follow-up film in what will ultimately become a trilogy. The 3rd film is already greenlit, with Mann returning to both write and direct.
Fall 2: Deadpoint hits theaters on September 2nd. You can check out the new death-defying trailer below:
