Alice Reaches The Point Of Not Return

It’s Episode 8 of Batwoman, the Midseason Finale, and the stakes raise to new heights as Alice’s “Tea Party” stabs at the heart of Gotham

    Episode 8 Spoilers ( Discussion )

There’s been a constant struggle that is the backbone of the season ; the relationship between Kate and Alice and if the latter can be saved. While she’s been murderous, Alice has always had the window of forgiveness open. But after the murder of Mary Hamilton, there’s little choice left for the villian but to be taken down.

And there’s real praise for all performances involved, particularly Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton who’s once again stolen the show. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if she took up a vigilante persona herself.

This episode not only showed off a bit more of what Ruby Rose can do as an actor, but brought us one of the best fight scenes in the series so far. The long take following Batwoman as she takes down the the fake Crows was wonderfully choreographed.

This episode was an a fully balanced hard hitting one that focuses on loud personal attacks on the characters rather than a large “world at risk” ones.

Alice works well when you dive beneath the shallow Wonderland quotes and focus on her tragedy as a whole. Now as she digs a deeper and deeper pit for herself, the only question that remains is ; can she be saved ? And do we even want her to ?
