Production has wrapped on Adam Egypt Mortimer’s (Daniel Isn’t Real) upcoming film Pathetic Fallacy. The supernatural thriller stars Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi (X), Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), and Natasha Lyonne (Poker Face).

Pathetic Fallacy is co-written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, the same duo behind Transformers One. The film takes place in a new-age mountain town and focuses on a young widower. He makes the trek there to deal with his grief and search for answers. Instead, the place is home to a murderer and a forest of demonic spirits. They offer him a horrific bargain: the ability to cheat death, but at a horrific price.
“This script gutted me,” Cudi told Deadline. “I’ve never read anything like it. It’s raw, it’s surreal, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s asking me to go places I’ve never gone as an actor. That’s terrifying and thrilling. I couldn’t walk away from it.”
“There’s a strange alchemy to a script that can be this funny and this devastating at the same time, and that’s exactly what pulled me in,” Lyonne explains. “Adam is building something genuinely unhinged and tender all at once.”
Pathetic Fallacy has no set release date at this time. We’ll keep you posted on updates as the project develops.
