Ben Schwartz, has joined the cast of The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event. Schwartz’s specific role hasn’t yet been confirmed. However, he was photographed on the set of the movies this week.

There is also evidence that Schwartz will portray Murray the K. The New York disc jockey who befriended the band in the 1960s. Murray the K was famous for calling himself the “fifth Beatle,” a title that many also attribute to George Martin.

    Possibly playing the fifth Beatle

Each movie will look at a different member’s perspective. Ultimately converging to show the band on its way from Liverpool to worldwide cultural domination before breaking up in 1970. This is also the first time that Apple Corps Ltd. has granted life-story and comprehensive music rights.

Schwartz is joined by Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce will portray Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd, and Maureen Starkey, respectively.

Harry Lloyd will play the Beatles’ long-time music producer George Martin. Other reports indicate that James Norton will portray manager Brian Epstein. Jim McCartney, Aunt Mimi, road manager Neil Aspinall, and controversial music manager Allen Klein will be portrayed by David Morrissey, Leanne Best, Bobby Schofield, and Adam Pally, respectively.

Sam Mendes, known for helming American Beauty and 1917, will direct all four films. The scripts are provided by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne. Mendes will also produce the films alongside Neal Street co-owner Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor.

    Currently in Production

The films are currently in production in the U.K. by Sony and Mendes’ Neal Street Productions. Sony Pictures will co-produce and distribute all four films worldwide. Full theatrical release windows scheduled to begin in April 2028.

The new role adds a compelling dramatic element to Schwartz’s rapidly expanding resume. He will once again voice Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. He’s also set to appear alongside Cameron Diaz in the Netflix film Bad Day. Bad Day does not have an official release date yet.
