The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has given us a ton of insight into what to expect as the series concludes with its fifth and final season. With the premiere due on Prime Video on April 8, 2026, Kripke isn’t shy about how he’s feeling the crushing weight of that deadline.

Kripke frankly explained that the pressure of closing the show up thoughtfully is what he’s thinking about always. He said, “You can count in one, maybe two hands, the truly great series finales… the graveyard is literally filled with terrible series finales.”
Now, that’s not the most reassuring point to make about final seasons.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “If we stiff it,” he said. Then “they will definitely say, ‘Well, that show wasn’t as good as we thought it was.’ And it’s almost like you’re trying to secure your legacy with these finales. And it’s the first finale I’ve ever done, too, so it’s not like I have any experience with it. So I’m mostly anxious and girding my loins.”
That last part is worth noting. Despite years in the industry, this is genuinely new territory for Kripke. His experience on Supernatural, which ran for fifteen years, seems to have left a mark on him. That show’s finale is widely regarded as one of the worst in TV history. Kripke clearly does not want a repeat with The Boys.
Kripke on Season 5
He really, really wants to “land the plane” The final season of the NBC series is coming and showrunner Daniel Kripke told Variety that his main concern is “landing the plane” so that there ends up being a big, satisfying payoff in the end.
What’s more, it’s not just one story line that needs to come together in a resolution, and yet there are so many different character story lines that need to fit into that culminating finale.
Whether it’s a single episode or not, we know for sure with the final season that it won’t be a super-sized episode; it’s going to be the standard 1 hour and five minutes that all of the Season 5 episodes are.
And you know the stakes are incredibly high. The first four seasons of the show are sitting at an impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
