Tom Holland made an interesting announcement this morning about the trailer release for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He confirmed that a full trailer for Sony’s upcoming film will come out tomorrow. However, it will have an interesting, community-driven twist….
Before the launch, several seconds of first-look footage will be posted to different fan-run social media accounts.
Cliver Huaman Sanchez of Lima, Peru, posted the first piece of footage on Instagram. It shows everyone’s favorite webslinger between two buildings, trying to save someone. A voice in the background simply says, “rebirth.”
OSUSpidey, of Columbus, Ohio, posted the next piece of footage. This second clip features a dramatic music sting and Peter Parker falling.
The Amazing Alex Arellano of Mexico City released the next piece of footage showing Spider-Man jumping off a roof.
Sarah Ridgle of Las Vegas, Nevada, will post the next clip.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It follows Peter’s desperate attempts to leave being Spider-Man behind and focus on college. But, as always, a new threat emerges and starts targeting his friends. Now he must break his vow and suit up again, teaming with an unexpected ally to protect those he loves.
Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man alongside Zendaya and Jacob Balaton as MJ and Ned. Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal will be entering the Spider-Man universe as Daredevil and The Punisher, respectively. Sadie Sink is also set to star, and there are rumors that she will be portraying Jean Grey.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31.
