Anyone remember the movie “Bride Wars” from 2009 starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway? Well now Peacock has a new project for it in development. Only this time its for a television series starring Emma Roberts (American Horror Story, Scream Queens). Not only is she meant to star in the series but she will also be producing through her Belletrist prodco.
New Regency will serve as the lead studio with other co-studios including 20th Television and UCP. Sashca Rothchild (GLOW, XO, Kitty) will be writing and executive producing.

The series will feature Set against the charming backdrop of North Carolina, Bride Wars, the TV series, follows a big-city wedding planner (Emma Roberts) whose arrival in a small town sparks an epic showdown with a beloved local planner. As the two women battle to plan the same wedding, their rivalry quickly escalates into a larger clash over friendship, community, and, ultimately, love.
Deadline
Originally the movie features two friends who accidentally book a wedding at the same venue for the same time. A slight oversight on the venue’s part leads to chaos and drama. This version of the story will feature kind of the same vibe, only it will be about two wedding planners planning the same wedding.

So far no release date has been announced.
