10 Best PSP Action Adventure Games

Competing against the Nintendo DS when it came out, the PSP was Sony’s attempt at a portable console and it succeeded but not in terms of overcoming the juggernaut that is Nintendo’s handheld division.

Offering markedly superior graphics to those offered on the DS, the PSP also hewed more closely to traditional gameplay modes.

Whereas the DS incorporated the stylus and even voice controls to some extent, the PSP positioned itself as a multimedia game machine.

In an era before ubiquitous smartphones and the like, the PSP was a unique proposition and one that attracted a large following. Other games online can offer darmowa kasa za rejestrację bez depozytu (free cash for registration without deposit). We recommend that to anyone who wants to play a game with a little higher stakes.

Here are the top 10 best PSP games on the action adventure genre released during its history.

    10. Tomb Raider: Anniversary

What better way to celebrate the classic Tomb Raider formula than with this game? It is everything people grew to love on the PlayStation originals in a portable format.

Graphically, this game is better than anything the PSX could have done and the gameplay is leagues beyond what you found on most DS games. If you want a familiar game to start your PSP career with then you can’t do better than this game.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Tomb Raider (PSX)
    • Super Mario 64
    • BioShock Infinite

    9. Age of Zombies

The graphics on this game are deceiving. Cartoonish, bright, cheerful – except for the zombies that are everywhere, of course. The perfect one-trick game, Age of Zombies tasks you with eliminating the titular zombies on a series of maps. That’s it.

You employ all kinds of traps and tactics to get maximum carnage but you’re not going to be asked to do much more than that. In many ways, Age of Zombies reminds gamers of the classic concepts that ruled the arcades in the 1980s.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Zombies Ate My Neighbors
    • Kagero: Deception
    • Plants vs Zombies

    8. LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy

The LEGO Star Wars games largely kicked off the series as we know it today. Outside of that, however, this is a great adaptation of the Star Wars story.

Fans and non-fans alike can relate to it and the gameplay is engaging enough without being extremely difficult making the game accessible and compelling. The focus here is on the timeless Lucasfilm story, but the gameplay also makes it a classic.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Lego Batman
    • Lego Indiana Jones
    • Lego Marvel’s Avengers

    7. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

GTA: Vice City was an amazing follow-up to GTA III and it came out so soon after that game that gamers now would be amazed. Capturing everything you wanted from Vice City on the handheld, Vice City Stories was basically like DLC for the main console game.

It’s still hard to get over having full-fledged portable GTA so long ago, but we did and Vice City Stories is a great game even today.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Grand Theft Auto
    • Saints Row
    • Mafia

    6. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Though not a full Metal Gear Solid game in the traditional sense, Portable Ops took the best from the stealth action series and condensed it down into a portable format that resulted in a quick, pick-up-and-play title.

While the other titles are known for their lengthy cinematics and drawn-out stories, this game largely sticks to the gameplay that made Metal Gear Solid so popular and the narrative is so minimal you will question whether or not this is actually a Metal Gear Solid game.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Tom Clancy’s Splintercell
    • Dishonored
    • Deus Ex: Human Revolution

    5. God of War: Ghost of Sparta

God of War is typically a love it or hate it kind of series, but on the PSP portable, it is a must-own game. That’s because you’re not going to get many titles that bring the spirit of the mainline series to a portable handheld.

Ghosts of Sparta does that and it doesn’t rest on its laurels. It is its own game with its own story – not a port of another game.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Detroit
    • Monster Hunter: World
    • Shadow of the Tomb Raider

    4. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Like the above Vice City Stories, Liberty City Stories felt like DLC for GTA III on the PlayStation 2. These two games really showed off the PSP’s capabilities and pushed the definition of what a portable game could be.

If you want to play GTA III on a portable, you can’t do any better – even now – than Liberty City Stories.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • The Simpsons Hit and Run
    • Crackdown
    • Red Dead Redemption

    3. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Another attempt at bringing the Metal Gear Solid franchise to the portables, this PSP game adds more story than Portable Ops but still keeps the game within the boundaries of a portable system.

That is, you won’t listen to length monologues nor watch endless cinematics. What is here is probably essential playing from a lore standpoint for Metal Gear Solid fans, but, for the rest of us, the gameplay is the main draw.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Alien: Isolation
    • Hitman
    • Thief II

    2. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

Grand Theft Auto became such a cultural phenomenon after the release of GTA III that even the Nintendo DS had to get in on the action. While the graphics aren’t quite on the level of Liberty City Stories or Vice City Stories, Chinatown Wars is its own unique take on the GTA formula.

Taking place in Liberty City and basically a port of the DS game (sans stylus controls), Chinatown Wars is a narrative-heavy game that is totally deserving of the GTA name.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Sleeping Dogs
    • Just Cause
    • The Last of Us

    1. God of War: Chains of Olympus

God of War does not shy away from violence and knuckle-breaking action. Chains of Olympus doesn’t either and, in fact, revels in it.

If you love God of War, then read no further, but, for the rest of us, if you want a portable game that gets your blood pumping and challenges you just like a console title would, then you’ve met your dream game.

Chains of Olympus sacrifices nothing that made God of War great and, instead, stands on its own as an absolutely great game.

You’re probably going to like this game if you also like:

    • Horizon Zero Dawn
    • The Witcher
    • Assassin’s Creed
