Last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced generative-AI short-form user-generated content would be coming to Disney+. Former Disney collaborator Dana Terrace is fighting back by encouraging fans to pirate her show “Owl House” rather than support AI. The series ran for three seasons on the streaming platform.

“Unsubscribe from Disney+. Pirate Owl House. I don’t care. Fuck gen AI,” Terrace posted to X.
Terrace is also credited on “Gravity Falls” alongside creator Alex Hirsch, who later worked on “Owl House.” She also directed several episodes of another popular show, “DuckTales.” Considering the massive backlash against generative AI, odds are Terrace won’t be the only one pushing for people to cancel Disney+.
In September, there was a wave of Disney+ cancellations due to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” being pulled. However, that was due to backlash over censorship, not concerns over AI.
Still, it’s weird that it’s happened twice in just a few months.
At this time, Disney has not responded to Terrace’s comments. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this situation as it develops.
