Actor, musician, and writer Steve Burns, best known as the first host of Nickelodeon’s “Blue’s Clues,” is launching a new podcast, “Alive.” It will be produced via Lemonada Media and continue his work on the popular children’s show, but for adults.

This podcast will have Burns interviewing new guests each week. Asking each one, “what it means to stay human in a complicated world.” “Alive” will explore important aspects of the human condition like mortality, masculinity, loneliness, and success.

Burns was inspired to make the podcast in 2021, during the 25th anniversary of “Blue’s Clues.” That’s when he “found himself in conversation again with tens of millions of grown-up fans who still considered him a friend,” Lemonada said.

“There are a thousand podcasts you can listen to, this is one that listens back,” Burns explains. “I really want to continue what we started decades ago… For us, it was all about curious investigation. It was about looking a little closer. About asking the right questions. About following the clues that helped lead us toward greater understanding. ‘Alive’ is really just a continuation of that same conversation — only now we’re grown-ups, trying to make sense of a world that’s a whole lot more complicated. We’re still searching, still learning, still trying to connect. Still doing our best to lead deeply examined lives, together. And, you know, there’ll be less talking furniture, sure, but we’re still going to have a lot of fun along the way.”

    “Alive” on Stage

Burns also announced his debut solo live show, “Steve Burns Alive,” which is geared towards adults, too. The play is co-written with Matthew Freeman (“The Ask”), with Freeman directing.

“Adults need to be shepherded through life just as much as kids do, and Steve is the perfect person to do it,” CEO of Lemonada Jessica Cordova Kramer said. “He taps right into your inner child, helping listeners feel delight, comfort and curiosity. From the moment we saw Steve’s videos on TikTok during the pandemic, we knew we had to work with him.”

“Steve Burns Alive” will have a pop-up performance run from July 23rd to 25th at the Club at La MaMa in Manhattan. The “Alive” podcast will debut at some point later this year. We’ll keep you posted on updates as these projects develop.
