The “Steven Universe”…universe…is about to get even bigger! It has been five long years since the miniseries “Steven Universe Future” wrapped. Amazon Prime Video has confirmed “Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars” is in the works!

“Lars of the Stars”
This sequel series will shift focus more to Lars Barriga, eternal teenager and space outlaw. “Lars of the Stars” will follow him and his pirate crew as they smuggle contraband, evade the authorities, and uncover the darkest secrets of the fallen Gem Empire.
The project already has franchise creator Rebecca Sugar and supervising director Ian Jones-Quartey on board to executive produce. The series was announced on June 10th at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, following a live performance by Sugar of a song written for “Adventure Time.”
This new series will be the first installment of “Steven Universe” not to air on Cartoon Network, opting instead to air on the Amazon MGM-owned Prime Video.
The original “Steven Universe” series ran from 2013 to 2019 and was highly praised for its art style and messages of inclusion. It was followed by “Steven Universe: The Movie” in 2019 and the mini-series “Steven Universe Future,” which ran from 2019 to 2020.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about “Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars” as the project develops. The original series and film are both currently available on Hulu.
