Disney is continuing its efforts to take over every form of entertainment by strengthening its partnership with Epic Games. This time, the companies will be working together to launch an entirely new playable world based on Disney IP. This move includes letting players link their Epic Games accounts to myDisney accounts, in exchange for a special stormtrooper skin. [Just don’t play anything where you have to shoot a gun with any accuracy.]

Disney and Epic will also break new ground by launching the first two episodes of the “Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld” animated series inside the video game “Fortnite.” Giving gamers access to the episodes days before they hit Disney+. Players are even being encouraged to do battle with their enemies while they watch.

The fittingly titled, “Tales of the Underworld,” is an anthology series focused on the criminal underbelly inside the universe. It’s created by franchise veteran Dave Filoni (“Tales of the Empire”) and stars Corey Burton (“Young Jedi Adventures”), Nika Futterman (“The Bad Batch”), and Lane Factor (“Reservation Dogs”).

    But Wait There’s More “Fortnite”

If all that isn’t enough, on May 2nd, Epic will debut a new “Star Wars” themed season, “Fortnite: Galactic Battle.”

“For the first time, Disney+ is premiering a show inside a game, launching alongside our largest Star Wars collaboration with Fortnite to date – giving fans and players an exciting first look at the kinds of experiences they can expect as we shape a new future together,” said Sean Shoptaw, executive vp of Disney Games & Digital Entertainment. “We’re building the next era of digital entertainment, where fans can play, watch, create and connect – and we’re just beginning to tap into what’s possible.”

“Disney and Epic are pioneering the future of social entertainment together, and this expansive Star Wars collaboration offers a glimpse into the type of interactive experiences we envision,” adds Adam Sussman, Epic Games president. “We are reimagining what’s possible with immersive storytelling in Fortnite with one of the world’s most beloved franchises – stay tuned for a lot more to come.”

“Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld,” will debut on Star Wars Watch Party island inside “Fortnite” on May 2nd. The episodes will hit Disney+ on the most sacred of fandom holidays, May 4th. You can check out the trailer below:
