Oscar Nunez to Reprise Role in “The Office” Spinoff Series

In 2013 the world said goodbye to the US version of “The Office.” After nine seasons, seven of them with Steve Carell in the lead, it was time to see things off. Thanks largely to rebroadcasts, and Netflix / Peacock streaming, the program has remained incredibly popular and is now one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. An official spinoff is happening, that takes place in the same universe as the show. Sometimes revivals work, other times they’re disasters. We won’t know which one this will be yet, but we do now know that a familiar face will be making the move from Dunder Mifflin to this new project. 

Reports have indicated it may be called “The Paper,” but that hasn’t been confirmed. It’s a fitting name considering the plot. The show will be about a struggling newspaper company in the Midwest that’s trying to keep afloat in a digital age. We also know actors Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore are part of the cast. As for the familiar face joining them, it will be none other than Oscar Nunez, reprising his role of Oscar Martinez. 

Reports indicate the actor has been involved with this project from the start, though the capacity of which is still unknown. It will be interesting to see what’s happened to him from where we last left him when “The Office” ended. He was attempting to enter the political scene as a senator following an affair he had been having with Senator Lipton.

The documentary crew that filmed the Dunder Mifflin activities and happenings are back again, too. They will be continuing to document the events taking place at this newspaper, though we don’t yet know if it’s going to revolve around Oscar or he will just be a secondary figure in this mix. 

The show’s creator Greg Daniels has an incredibly impressive track record even outside his work in adapting the original series of “The Office” from the UK to the US. We have high hopes his involvement with this spinoff will make it just as funny and engaging as its source material.
