Get ready to meet Frendo. RLJE Films and Shudder have released the first Red Band teaser trailer for “Clown in a Cornfield.” The movie is directed and co-written by Eli Craig (“Tucker & Dale Vs Evil”), with Carter Blanchard (“Good vs Evil”). It is based on Bram Stoker Award-winning author Adam Cesare’s young adult novel series of the same name, which you can pick up here.

“Clown in a Cornfield” centers around Quinn (Katie Douglas) and Glenn (Carson MacCormac), a father and daughter who have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs. Unfortunately, like most small towns in horror, this one harbors a dark secret. The community of Kettle Springs has fallen hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. But the product’s beloved mascot, Frendo, remains plastered all over town like a charred reminder of its youthful optimism. A spirit it intends to recapture, through bloodshed. Because a little bit of Baypen makes everything better.

Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand also star alongside Douglas and MacCormac.

This upcoming slasher is produced by John Fischer for Temple Hill Entertainment, Marty Bowen, and Wyck Godfrey. RLJE Films and horror streaming service Shudder will be acting as distributors.

“Clown in a Cornfield”  will premiere at SXSW on March 10th before hitting theaters nationwide on May 9th. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as it develops. You can check out the Red Band teaser trailer below:
