HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series is really beginning to take shape. The production just named Oscar-winner Holly Waddington as costume designer. Waddington is probably best known for her work on “Poor Things” starring Emma Stone.

Waddington’s other credits include 2016’s “Lady Macbeth” starring Florence Pugh, which nabbed her a BIFA. She has also worked as an assistant costume designer in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” and “War Horse,” among many other film, television, and theater projects.

She will be joining the creative talents of showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod for the upcoming “Harry Potter” series. The show is set to be a retelling of JK Rowling’s novels. According to Mylod, it will “dig into the depths and crevices of Hogwarts.”

Shooting on the new series is set to start in the summer of 2025 in Leavesden.

No casting choices have been confirmed at this time. However, HBO executives revealed that 32,000 young actors had auditioned for the lead roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Leaving the casting team to review up to 1,000 audition tapes per day, according to Gardiner. Talk about being overwhelmed by choices.

The rumors are currently swirling around Mark Rylance as Dumbledore, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. But, again, nothing is confirmed in terms of casting just yet.

We’ll keep you posted on updates about HBO’s “Harry Potter” series as they develop.
