Chyna’s Mom Talks About Her WWE Hall of Fame Induction

WWE will be inducting members of D-Generation X into the Hall of Fame this year. The ones that we have confirmed so far are Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, Billy Gunn, “Road Dogg” BG James, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, and The Honky Tonk Man.

Chyna’s family has been petitioning to get her into the Hall of Fame for years and she will now finally receive her induction three years after her death in 2016.

Her mother Janet LaQue will be accepting her award in April at the Induction ceremony on her daughters behalf. In an interview with People magazine this week she talked about what this award meant to her.

“I honestly didn’t think it was gonna happen this year. It was just so totally awesome because she is so deserving of this. I feel sad that it happened after her death, and she won’t be there to accept it herself, but hopefully she’ll be smiling down on me when I do for her.”

“I’m very, very proud of her, as my daughter, for having the intestinal fortitude to do that. Joanie was one of a kind, that she broke the barrier in not only the wrestling field but for women across the board.”

“Joanie and I were estranged for many years, for many reasons, but we had reconnected when she was in wrestling in Japan, and we were in contact with each other quite regularly for three years before she passed, and we had reconciled. We had a good relationship going. I can honestly tell you, I was shocked to hear that she had passed, but I wasn’t completely totally surprised by it. She was fighting a lot of demons.”

Chyna was born Joan Laurer on December 27th 1969 passed away April 20th, 2016 at 47 years old due to an accidental drug overdose. She was the first woman to ever compete in the Royal Rumble and King of the Ring tournament and was deemed the “Ninth Wonder of the World.” She had an epic romance with Triple H and joined the military at one point. She was an actress through and through and made herself known as one of the biggest names in wrestling history. Other than her wrestling career she appeared on reality television and twice in Playboy Magazine. She was a sex symbol and dabbled in pornography as well. She was a legend and deserves to be remembered and I for one am glad that she is finally being honored with an induction to the Hall of Fame.

You can find a great book about her life on Amazon called
“Chyna The 9th Wonder of the World- If They Only Knew.”

The book is written by her and Micheal Angeli and is a tell all about the ins and outs of her life wrestling and otherwise. I read this in High School and in honor of her induction will be re-reading it this year. I recommend it for anyone who would like first person insight into her life.
