New Spawn Movie Will be Titled “King Spawn”

Blumhouse has confirmed the title for Todd McFarlane’s long-awaited Spawn movie will be “King Spawn.” In 1992, McFarlane launched the “Spawn” comics about an antihero mercenary who dies and goes to Hell for his crimes. It broke records for indie comic sales and spawned an animated show, movies, and a slew of video games.

    “King Spawn” Script

On July 22nd, Blumhouse posted an image on social media of a script cover that says “King Spawn.” Not only does this reveal the title but it also heavily implies that the script is finished. The fact that the studio decided to wait until the week of San Diego Comic-Con may mean bigger announcements are on the way.

While the film has been in production limbo for almost a decade, in 2023 Blumhouse chief Jason Blum announced it would hit theaters sometime in 2025. Depending on the script and schedules, this may still be possible if production starts soonish.

“I would say you have a lot to hope for because it’s in very very active development,” Blum said at the time. “What needs to happen is that my fellow friends the writers and the studios need to figure out their differences and get back to writing, but we’ve got a great group of folks putting it together, and my hope is that that movie — my prediction is maybe we’ll actually see a Spawn movie in ’25. No promises, but that’s my prediction.”

Of course, this is mostly being met with fans saying they’ll believe it when they see it. But these are some serious steps in the right direction.

We’ll keep you posted on “King Spawn” updates as they become available.
